A lifetime in golf. A simple way of teaching it.
I started playing golf at age 10 and have now spent more than 45 years in the game. As a junior golfer I became an AJGA All-American, then earned a full golf scholarship to San Diego State University.
Today I am an LPGA Class A Teaching Professional, and my favorite part of golf is helping everyday players understand the game without making it feel intimidating.
I am also the author of Two Little Golfers Being Positive, a children's golf book about confidence, attitude, and not giving up when the game gets difficult.
The lesson is the prescription. Practice is the medicine.
A lesson can show you what to do, but improvement happens when your body gets enough correct repetitions between lessons.
I give students specific ideas to work on instead of simply saying, “Go hit some balls.” Short, purposeful practice sessions can make an enormous difference.
Simple pictures and feels you can remember.
Golf is easier to learn when an idea makes sense to your body. For example, I may have a student imagine throwing a ball toward the target so they can feel how the body's energy continues forward through the shot.
The goal is not to make you memorize golf jargon. The goal is to give you one or two useful ideas you can actually take to the practice range.
